Rosen Bien Galvan & Grunfeld is pleased to announce that senior counsel Van Swearingen has been promoted to partner and associate Ben Bien-Kahn has been promoted to senior counsel effective January 1, 2019.

Van Swearingen’s practice focuses on complex civil litigation, employment law, white collar criminal defense, trade secret issues, government enforcement actions, and civil rights. He received his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Goldman School of Public Policy at UC Berkeley, and a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to entering legal practice, Van conducted statistical and public policy analysis for the Public Policy Institute of California, the Congressional Budget Office, and the University of California, Berkeley. He received a California Lawyer of the Year (CLAY) award in 2016, and was named a Northern California Rising Star by Super Lawyers from 2015 to 2018.
Ben Bien-Kahn practices complex civil litigation in state and federal courts, with an emphasis on class action litigation, constitutional and civil rights law, employment law, and disability rights. He is a graduate of Tufts University and the University of California-Los Angeles School of Law. Prior to joining RBGG, Ben served as a law clerk to the Honorable Rosemary Barkett of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in Miami, Florida. He has been named a Northern California Rising Star by Super Lawyers from 2014 to 2018.
