Rosen Bien Galvan & Grunfeld is pleased to announce that associates Michael Freedman and Van Swearingen have been promoted to Senior Counsel effective January 1, 2018.

Michael Freedman focuses his practice on complex civil litigation, employment law, constitutional and civil rights law, attorneys’ fees applications, and appellate litigation. Mike is a graduate of Stanford Law School and Claremont McKenna College. Prior to joining RBGG, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Marilyn H. Patel of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California and to the Honorable Reginald C. Lindsay of the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. He was named a Rising Star by Northern California Super Lawyers in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.
Van Swearingen’s practice focuses on complex civil litigation, employment law, civil rights issues, attorneys’ fees applications, and appellate litigation. He received his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Goldman School of Public Policy at UC Berkeley, and a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin. Van received a California Lawyer of the Year (CLAY) award in 2016, and was named a Northern California Rising Star by Super Lawyers in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
