Judge Charles Breyer of the U.S. District Court in San Francisco has approved a $950,000 settlement of a class action brought by mostly Spanish-speaking employees of Ghilotti Brothers Inc. in San Rafael for refusing to pay them for all hours worked, including hours spent each day loading and unloading trucks and driving to and from construction sites.
The settlement, which includes 245 current and former employees, also includes an order from the court that employees be allowed to record and submit their own time — a system that was put in place in November of 2013 after preliminary approval of the settlement. Partner Gay Grunfeld led the RBGG team. Wendy Musell of Stewart & Musell in San Francisco was co-counsel.
