Associate Aaron Fischer is a member of the American Diabetes Association’s nationwide Advocacy Attorney Network and is one of hundreds of attorneys nationwide who work to change discriminatory laws, develop policies to prevent discrimination, and represent patients so they receive fair treatment at school or on the job. Fischer, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 19, is featured in the Fall 2012 issue of the ADA’s Professional Section Quarterly, “Discrimination due to diabetes: attorney network can help patients.”
According to the article: “Attorneys add what Aaron calls ‘complementary expertise’ by advising doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals on how to ask targeted questions about their patients’ work and school lives, and by teaching them about their patients’ legal rights and when to seek advice from an attorney.” Aaron has also taken on individual cases of discrimination, helping one client secure compensation for improper termination and allowing her to move forward with her life.
