Stiner v. Brookdale

A federal class action lawsuit accusing Brookdale Senior Living, the largest provider of assisted living for senior citizens and persons with disabilities in the U.S., of financial abuse and widespread violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Alameda County Jail

The Babu case is a federal class action lawsuit challenging the adequacy of mental health care and treatment at Santa Rita Jail; suicide prevention and the use of safety cells; overuse of isolation and adequacy of out-of-cell time; and other areas.

CDCR Staff Misconduct Litigation

Judge Claudia Wilken issued two orders intended to stop officers in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (“CDCR”) from abusing and discriminating against people with disabilities.

California Statewide Prison Mental Health System

FCI Dublin

Eight survivors of staff sexual abuse and retaliation at Federal Correctional Institution Dublin–a federal women’s prison in Dublin, California–and the California Coalition for Women Prisoners (CCWP) filed a class action lawsuit against the Bureau of Prisons, FCI Dublin officials, and several individual officers.

Monterey County Jail

In 2013, RBGG and co-counsel sued the County of Monterey and its for-profit medical provider, California Medical Group, Inc. (“CFMG,” also known as “Wellpath”), challenging dangerous and unconstitutional conditions in the County’s Jail.  The case settled in 2015 and the Court approved remedial Implementation Plans in 2016.

San Diego County Jail

This federal lawsuit pending challenges the County of San Diego, San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, and San Diego County Probation Department for their collective failure to provide adequate, accessible and safe living conditions, and medical, mental health or dental care for people incarcerated in county jails. 

Yuba County Jail Information Page

In 1976, Plaintiffs filed this action alleging that the Jail subjected prisoners to cruel and unusual punishment and violated rights secured by the First, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendments to the Constitution of the United States.
