RBG’s Gay Grunfeld and Leslie Thornton, a 2nd year student at Berkeley School of Law, authored an op-ed piece that appeared in the Daily Journal on March 23, 2011 entitled “A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words“. The authors reviewed photo coverage in the Daily Journal over a six month period and found that men were predominantly featured. The authors say “The Journal and other publications that fail to represent women equally can do their part to end the tedious and archaic debate about breaking the glass ceiling.” They conclude, “Once women begin to see themselves in the paper, perhaps they will see themselves in the partnership meeting.”
