Acting on behalf of journalists, the firm filed a California Public Records Act suit against the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department after the the Department failed to produce information regarding claims and settlements against the county jail. “The amount, type and cost of litigation involving the Sheriff’s Department related to prioners and employees is a matter of public interest, and reflects on the efficacy and adequacy of San Francisco’s jail operations,” stated PLN editor Paul Wright.
